Hi! I’m Toni of Tonikikii Performance Arts. I have been hooping since April 2014 and teaching and performing since early 2016. Hooping quickly became a passion for me. As soon as I nailed that first trick I realized this was something that I could easily get lost in. I spent hours upon hours watching videos, chatting on message boards, and throwing hoops across rooms just to land the newest trick. Eventually, I stopped focusing so much on tricks, and started focusing on being connected with my hoop and treating it more as a dance partner than a prop. When I learned to let go, I gained a whole new sense of self confidence and open mindedness for the world around me. It completely changed my lifeI am not longer to express myself in ways that others may find weird or strange (can we say sparkles all the time?!), I am more accepting of things and ideas that made me uncomfortable, and it made me completely at peace with the person I am. My mission is to spread the not only the art of hoop dance, but to share the confidence and acceptance that it gave me. Through the art of hooping, I hope to make each hooper a stronger person, a more open person, and an all around happier person. It’s not about being the best hooper in the world, it’s about being the best person that YOU can be. Namaslay!
